Lesson 1: How to stretch a Dollar
First off.
What I am about to demonstrate is not an easy feat and takes practice and the right weather conditions.
In the above picture are 3 items that I purchased at a local thrift store over the weekend. These three items were all bought for under $1. All together.
Here is how it breaks down:
Shoes- Vintage $0.50
Earrings- Vintage $0.25
Small bag- Vintage $0.20
Making the grand total with tax.... $0.89
Now as I said things like this don't always happen, it take patience and the right weather. In this case, 2 of the items, the shoes and the earrings, had been sitting around that place for a while. Sometimes, when I see something I like at a store but it seems kinds of a silly buy (like lime green wedges) I wait and see it they're still there the next time I stop in... if they're there, they were meant to be mine. If not, well then they weren't. Sometimes, this holding off can also grant you a price drop... like on another pair of wedges I recently purchased, but that's another entry.
Another thing that helped keep the price down is that the earrings are clip-ons. Now most people would pass these by because of that. However, It would be fairly easy to change these in to stud earrings... or I could just take out my usual earrings and clip them on! Think about it ladies, just cause you CAN wear post earrings doesn't mean you CAN'T wear clip-ons!
Lastly, the small bag is a great floral print which is really big right now. This was bought for my best friend who LOVES orange. It was mixed in with the toiletry bags but is in great shape and will make a great jewelry bag, make-up bag or maybe even a wallet or night out bag to go with the right outfit.
So today's tip is to be patience. Wait to see if its there the next time around and it may be worth your while. And look for weird things and in weird places. Who knows, your next favorite bag might be hiding among the toiletry totes.
