Smarty Pants

In my last post we looked at business casual. Today I'm on the same topic but on the more fun and funky side!

Being in the print media/design field I not only want to look professional but also creative when I'm at work. In this outfit I accomplished a funky look with some bright colored denim, my new nerdy glasses, chunky jewelry and, oh yes, a sweater vest.

Now, of course this outfit would be just fine with out the sweater vest but for me the vest added an extra layer of formality and neediness I was looking for to tie in with the glasses.

I also wanted to give you a close up on the necklace. It is so versatile, using black and brown tones and goes with an array of outfits.

This outfit contained a lot of light colors (the coral, the light denim and the light camel sweater) and this darker chunky necklace helped me tie in the darker glasses and the dark tones in the shoes. I like to think of accessorizing like decorating a Christmas tree, you want the ornaments of the same color to be spread out evenly. With this outfit the "ornaments" would be the glasses, the necklace and the shoes and the body of the outfit (pants, shirt, vest) the "tree" that needs decorated!

So of course you all want to know the price break down! So here it is:

Denim Shirt: $3 Walmart ( yes, WALMART!) and clearance of course. I don't usually look for clothes at Walmart but, a bargain like this was not one I could pass up!
Colored Denim Jeans: $25 PacSun I know this is out of my typical price range, however, these would be something I knew would be great to have and it's proven true and worth the cost!
Sweater Vest: $3.99 Old Navy Little girls section. If you are in my size range the little girls section is something I've always preached. Although I have tried to move away fro pants in this section, this vests was a total win.
Chunky Necklace: $2 Rumage Sale Have you ever been to a rummage sale? If not a suggest you check one out. And yards sales, yard sales are great for jewelry!
