Red, White and Bold: Memorial Day

What better way to show your patriotism then with and awesome and cost effective red, white and blue outfit?! This outfit took a little bit of searching but I finally found all the pieces and I think it turned out quite nicely.  I found the shorts first and then built it around them. I like to do this a lot, find something I like and then build off of it, sometimes you even find things you weren't looking for... like those earrings!

Outfit Breakdown:
Nautical Print Shorts: Green Ridge Thrift Store, $1.50
Yes, Green Ridge is a retirement community. This is one of my favorite places to go to find great vintage clothing.  A lot of the people have been holding on to amazing vintage clothes for years and the prices are amazing.

Boho Ruffle Top: Old Navy, little girls section clearance- $3.97
Now, I know not everyone out there can shop in the little girls section... but if you can... DO IT. It is a great resource if you know what you're looking for.  If not, the Ladies clearance section at your local old navy is great too!  Normally they have similar things in the ladies to what they do in the girls.

Red Belt: Body Central- $6.50
I'm pretty sure this is the most expensive part of the outfit... and the only thing I didn't find on sale.  Luckily, belts are a versatile and cost effective accessory.  Most range from $6 to $10 and can be used in multiple outfits, a staple in a girls wardrobe.

Red Pointy Shoes: Forever 21 clearance- $4.99
I bought these to wear at Christmas last year but they came in handy again this year.  Having the red shoe helped balance the outfit out with the read belt.  These also have an ankle strap that I just removed for this outfit.

Nautical Earrings- Yard Sale- $0.25
Yard sales are an other great place to find hidden treasures. I had no intention of finding earrings for this outfit, but I saw them and couldn't resist! A great added touch and the only other accessory needed with that belt!

So the grand total on this FAB outfit.... $17.21!
What a great deal!

So remember, hit up the thrift stores and look for hidden treasures at yard sales and in clearance.  And if you're 23 and are the average size of a 12 year old (like me) don't be afraid to check out the girls section for similar pieces to the ladies sizes for a better fit for you and your wallet!
